She Left Me for Her “Best Friend” After Years of Lies

I am a 31 years old male. This happened four years ago, on December 30, 2020. We were very passionate about each other and never hurt each other over silly things. But the last week of December 2020 was devastating for me. We were both working for an MNC. At that time, I was working from home, and she was in Bangalore, but I used to visit Bangalore and stay with her for a few days every month.

One day, she asked if she could go to Goa for a New Year’s party with her friends. I reminded her that we had already planned to spend New Year’s together in Goa. She explained that her friends were meeting up after many years, and she didn’t want to miss this chance. Reluctantly, I agreed, even though I felt low and disappointed. I told her, “If you’re happy, then enjoy with them.”

She hugged me and promised that we would go on a trek together in February and spend time together as a “make-up” for her Goa trip. So, she went to Goa for New Year’s and returned on January 5th. Oddly, she never posted a single picture from her vacation. I asked her about it, and she brushed it off, saying her friends had the photos and she would show me soon. I never pushed her for the pictures, but, as you know, we like to see pictures of our partners.

A few days later, she dropped a bombshell on me: she wanted a breakup. I asked why, and she said she didn’t feel our relationship would last much longer. I was devastated. I tried my best to save the relationship, but then she gave me an ultimatum: “Don’t call or message me for the next two months, and we’ll get back together.” I agreed, hoping things would work out.

But the reality was different. I waited in silence for a month, never calling or messaging her, doing exactly as she asked. Then one day, a friend called and told me something that felt like a heart attack. **My girlfriend was in a relationship with her best friend.**

Yes, that was the truth. All this time, she was dating him without even thinking about me. She had gone to Goa with him, was living in Bangalore with him, and when I confronted her, she admitted everything. She even told me to leave her alone or she would file a police complaint. This is what I got in return.

It’s been four years now, and while I’ve moved on in some ways, that event still haunts me. I loved her deeply, and because of this experience, I find it hard to trust or get attached to anyone now.
