My Male Bestie Has Girlfriend, Still he Flirts With Me

I met a man in an online college class during the lockdown and started talking to him. After some time, he started flirting with me, but I didn’t respond. Individually, he is a nice man who has struggled a lot in his life just to get even small things. He told me his past life story, and I felt sympathy for him. After some time, I also started flirting back and felt very attached to him.

After 2 months, he told me about his girlfriend, and I felt so bad and tried not to talk to him… but he constantly messaged me and tried to flirt with me. One day, he talked to me so emotionally and asked, “Why are you not talking to me properly?… Is it because I have a girlfriend? That’s why I didn’t want to tell you that I have a girlfriend.”

After that, he was so upset, and I felt bad and started talking to him normally like we used to. We were in different cities, but we got chances to meet each other when the lockdown was over and college started. After meeting him, I fell in love with him… I didn’t want to express my feelings to him and started ignoring him, but he kept calling me and trying to talk to me, constantly asking what’s wrong.

Then I expressed my feelings to him, and he replied, “Then what’s wrong in this?” But he never said that he loves me he just kept talking and flirting with me. My feelings kept growing, and even after 3 years, I’m still in love with him. His girlfriend found out about us after hacking his phone… she read our chats and told him to block me. I even tried many times not to talk to him, but whenever I told him that I’m not going to continue with this, he got emotional.

Now we don’t talk daily, but we’re still in touch, even after completing college. We’re back in our own cities and haven’t met since college. I don’t understand what to do… I’m so in love with him, but I also feel guilty that his girlfriend got hurt because of me. He never even said that he loves me… he seems so confused to me. He doesn’t want to break up with his girlfriend, and he doesn’t even want to leave me.

Question: Please guide me how can I come out of this mess?

Option 1: Block him

Option 2: Get counselling
